NERWOCN Spring Board Meeting Marketing Report:
1. The Colo-rectal Cancer (CRC) Challenge is March 28, 2010. Vashti Livingston is our WOC nurse team captain for a second year and is doing a fabulous job. Vashti has coordinated obtaining WOC nurse brochures and many other activities for a successful team WOCN. Cheryl Bealer and other NERWOCN members will be attending the race. Vashti has invited interested Metro NY members to “host” these attendees on Saturday evening for joint activities (Ruby Foo’s). Again, thank you to Diane Maydick Younberg and Vashti Livingston for joining me at the CRC Challenge kick off reception after a long day at work in January. We learned out how the race/walk has expanded and new outreach (Facebook, tweeting etc.) have been added to reach out to the pubic to promote evidence-based CRC screening. Members who can’t attend the race/walk can join the “virtual race”. Please see: http://www.coloncancerchallenge.org/
Please note the CRC Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to tout the WOC nurse role in patient and family education for CRC screening to save lives. There will be an opportunity for our Metro NY president, Vashiti, and Cheryl at the press interviews at the start of the race. In addition, the CRC leaders will be interviewed during the CBS morning show on 3/26. Please support this opportunity if you are in town early and/or live in the NYC area – see specifics below:
